Aphakia Resources

Aphakia is a condition where the eye’s natural lens is absent, often because it had to be removed due to its non-functionality. It produces severe visual impairment, although many people can opt for an artificial lens if it happens in adulthood.

I’ve looked around for aphakia resources and have not found very many. There is a Facebook group for parents. And a Facebook page for parents. And a Glaucoma Facebook group that has some overlap.

Also the blind subreddit is a supportive place though not an exact match.

A few years ago I found out aphakic people can see UV light so can navigate a space with a black light. They even put it to good use in World War II for an early warning system for spotting enemies.
